Taco Pizza (Pizza Hut Copycat) Recipe

If you’re a fan of Taco Pizza from Pizza Hut, you’re in for a treat! This homemade version captures all the flavors you love—savory beef, creamy refried beans, melty cheese, and fresh toppings—all on a crispy pizza crust. It’s the perfect fusion of tacos and pizza, making it a hit for family dinners, game nights, or casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Taco seasoning mix

  • 1 lb Ground beef

  • 1 Tbsp bacon grease, lard, or butter (bacon grease is the best for flavor)

  • 16 ounces Refried beans

  • 1 Tbsp cumin

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 14-inch Pizza dough

  • 1-2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 1 Head lettuce, shredded

  • 1-2 Tomatoes, diced

  • 1 Small onion, diced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Roll out the pizza dough and press it onto a pizza pan.

  2. Cook the Beef: In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the taco seasoning mix. Do not add water. Drain the beef and set it aside to cool.

  3. Prepare the Bean Sauce: Melt the bacon grease in a pan and add refried beans, cumin, salt, and garlic powder. Stir until warmed through, adding water as needed to make it spreadable.

  4. Assemble the Pizza:

    • Spread the refried bean mixture evenly over the pizza dough.

    • Top with the seasoned ground beef.

    • Sprinkle about 1/3 of the shredded cheese over the beef and beans.

  5. Bake: Bake at 400°F for about 15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the toppings are hot.

  6. Add Fresh Toppings: Remove from the oven and immediately cut the pizza into slices, leaving the slices in the pan.

  7. Top It Off: Sprinkle shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, and the remaining cheese evenly over the pizza.

  8. Serve & Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Taco Pizza

  • Bacon Grease for Flavor: Using bacon grease instead of butter or lard enhances the taste of the refried beans.

  • Customize Your Toppings: Add sliced jalapeños, black olives, or sour cream for extra flavor.

  • Crispier Crust: For a crispier crust, pre-bake the pizza dough for 5 minutes before adding the toppings.
