Ingredients
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 yellow onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tablespoons dried parsley flakes, divided
½ teaspoon garlic salt
½ teaspoon oregano
4 cans tomato sauce (8 oz each)
6 lasagna noodles, prepared
22 ounces cottage cheese
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
1 pound shredded Mozzarella
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it aside.
Step 2: Cook the Meat Sauce
In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain off any excess grease. Add the minced onion, garlic, 1 tablespoon of parsley flakes, garlic salt, oregano, and tomato sauce to the skillet. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the Cheese Mixture
While the meat sauce is simmering, mix the cottage cheese, beaten eggs, salt, remaining 2 tablespoons of parsley flakes, and Parmesan cheese in a large bowl until well combined.
Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna
Spread ½ cup of the meat mixture evenly on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Lay three prepared lasagna noodles side by side over the meat mixture, ensuring they do not overlap.
Spread half of the remaining meat mixture over the noodles.
Add half of the cottage cheese mixture, spreading it evenly.
Sprinkle half of the shredded Mozzarella cheese over the top.
Repeat the layers, omitting the Mozzarella cheese on the top layer.
Step 5: Bake the Lasagna
Place the assembled lasagna in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.
Step 6: Add the Final Cheese Layer
Remove the lasagna from the oven and top with the remaining Mozzarella cheese. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Step 7: Let It Rest and Serve
Once done baking, remove the lasagna from the oven and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This allows the layers to set, making it easier to serve.
Enjoy!
Pair this delicious homemade lasagna with a fresh green salad and garlic bread for a complete meal. Enjoy your homemade comfort food masterpiece!
